The horsetail is one of the oldest living plants on Earth, a living fossil closely resembling its’ prehistoric ancestors. Repeated in vertical linear form, the horsetails create a sense of simultaneity, past and present layered, ancient and modern intertwined. This plant has resilience surviving millions of years of geologic and climatic change.
Field Note: Collected beside a creek and then observed as the plant dried and produced an exhilarating pallet of colors.
