Organic forms interlace to suggest a system in balance, dynamically held in the geometric design drawn the Cabalistic symbol of the Tree of Life. The title invokes the biological principle of equilibrium, the continual adjustment by which life maintains itself. The drawing mirrors this process: each form responds to the others creating a visual meditation on the body’s capacity, and nature’s, to sustain harmony amid constant flux and evolution.
Field Note: The original painting was commissioned by Western Oregon University for the Biology wing in the natural sciences building.
