This work draws upon the mythic figure of the Siren, not as a voice from the sea, but as the unseen presence of wind animating the trees into vibratory sounds. Here, the forest itself becomes the singer: trunks and branches collaborate with shifting light to create a percussive call that can draw us deeper into a state of listening. This work is a meditation on the way the natural world calls us back to a state of presence.
Field Note: Inspired by the oak trees in winter observed though the artist’s studio window.
